George William Noice

I have been looking for the father of George Washington Noice.  According to 9 different family trees on Ancestry.com I see that George William Noice is listed as his father.  So far I haven't found any other records showing his father's name.  The 1900 US Census in Fairfied, Ohio shows that George Washington Noice's father was born in France,  The Ancestry family trees show George William being born in Ohio.  Since I don't have documentation showing one way or the other it is possible a mistake was just copied over to those trees.

On another note there is a gravestone for a G. W. Noice that served in the 22nd Ohio Battalion in the Civil War.  Looking over Official Roster of the Soldiers of the State of Ohio in the War of ..., Volume 3 (view able at http://books.google.com/books?id=-7EKAAAAIAAJ&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false) I cannot find a Noice, Noise, or Noyes listed as Ohio Soldiers.  This makes me wonder what was going on with the records from that time.

Is it possible that there was a different 22nd?

This Wiki link gives some information on the 22nd:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/22nd_Ohio_Battery
